ALEXANDRA CLIMENT
BIOGRAPHY
Alexandra first discovered the powerful beauty of rare tropical hardwoods while exploring the jungles of Central and South America over ten years ago on a job assignment. Since then, she has dedicated her life to sustainably sourcing these woods and bringing them back to NYC. This has led to many expeditions gathering intensely rare and beautiful species of naturally felled lumber from the depths of various jungles with the help of many local people and various indigenous tribes.
To support her jungle expeditions, she worked as an office manager of a construction company and used her savings and vacation time to fund travels to search for fallen wood. After years of slogging through red tape, the wood she had gathered finally came to New York in 2013. Her woodworking craft was born out of her desire to simply highlight the natural aesthetics of these unknown and breathtaking species. Each piece she makes is a representation of the sublime beauty of this planet, and the responsibility she feels to showcase these materials justly. She is proud of her efforts in sharing the stunning power of these materials as well as her active work in aiding the reforestation of the jungles she sources from.
